Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
Soltilo Bright Stars FC (“the Club”, “we”, “us”) runs this website. This policy explains what information we collect when you use it, what we do with that information, and the choices you have. It applies to soltilobrightstars.co.ug and to the ways you contact us through it.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and run the site.
- Things you send us. When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, your message, and, if you tell us, how you heard about the Club. If you write to us about membership or the academy, we keep what you send so we can reply.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider records the IP address, browser type and pages requested for each visit. We use this to keep the site running and secure.
- Cookies. See the cookies section below. We show a consent banner and only set non-essential cookies if you agree.
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry, membership application or academy question.
- To send you information you have asked for about memberships, matches or the academy.
- To keep the site secure and understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful.
- To meet legal obligations, such as record-keeping for memberships.
Under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019, our lawful basis for this is your consent when you contact us, our legitimate interest in running the Club and its website, and, for members, the membership agreement between us.
Who can see it
Your information is seen by the Club staff who handle enquiries and memberships. We share it with service providers only where they help us run the site, and only for that purpose:
- Our web hosting provider, which stores the site and processes form submissions.
- Our email provider, which delivers contact form messages to us.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of the Club, its players or its supporters.
Content from other services
Some parts of the site load from other companies, and those companies may set their own cookies or collect your IP address when the content loads:
- The league table on our home page is provided by Sofascore.
- Video may be embedded from YouTube.
- Fonts are served by Google Fonts.
- Links to our pages on X, Instagram, YouTube and Threads take you to those services.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy, which governs what they do with the information they collect.
Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device. We use essential cookies that the site needs to work, and, with your consent, cookies from the embedded services above. When you first visit we ask which cookies you accept; you can change your answer at any time from the cookie settings link at the bottom of the page or by clearing cookies in your browser.
How long we keep it
Contact form messages are kept for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry and for up to two years afterwards, in case you get back in touch. Membership records are kept for the length of your membership and for the period the law requires after it ends. Server logs are kept for a short, rolling period by our hosting provider.
Children and the academy
Our Junior Stars academy works with players under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children through this website. If you are a parent or guardian enquiring about the academy, please make the enquiry yourself rather than asking your child to. Any information about a child that we collect as part of academy registration is handled under a separate consent that we ask for at that time.
Your rights
You can ask us:
- what information we hold about you, and for a copy of it;
- to correct anything that is wrong;
- to delete your information, where we no longer need it;
- to stop using your information for a particular purpose;
- to withdraw consent you have given.
To do any of these, contact us through the Contact page. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to complain to the Personal Data Protection Office of Uganda.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to form submissions and membership records is limited to the staff who need them. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
Contact
Questions about this policy or about your information can be sent to the Club through the Contact page. Soltilo Bright Stars FC is based in Kampala, Uganda.
